Autumn Leaves -- a drabble inspired by this song:

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold....
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands, I used to hold.
Since you went away, the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song.
But I miss you most of all my darling,
When autumn leaves start to fall.

Birthday sex I call it, meaning no disrespect. We've been married twenty years, did you know that? He's the best husband any woman could wish for, my Sam. I don't doubt my place in his heart. He loves me year-round, fair weather and foul. It doesn't matter if he's loved others.

The neediness, though, that only comes in September, around the time Frodo left for the Sea. He'll come in on a cool night, his face flushed and desperate, ready to pull my skirts up and take me right on the parlor floor.

When he cries, after, I hold him.
